Net Zero and Carbon Emissions Statement
At Unimed Electrode Supplies Limited, we're committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045, in line with the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. Our 2025 baseline emissions have been calculated in accordance with PPN 006, the GHG Protocol, applicable SECR requirements and UK Government conversion factors, with support from The Carbon Stamp.
2025 Baseline: 743.01 tCO2e
- Scope 1: 1.10 tCO2e (refrigerant loss from air-conditioning)
- Scope 2 (market-based): 0.00 tCO2e (100% REGO-backed renewable electricity)
- Scope 3: 741.91 tCO2e, driven mainly by Purchased Goods & Services (661.61 tCO2e, ~89% of total), plus Downstream Transport (42.53), Employee Commuting (15.17), Upstream Transport (13.34), End-of-Life Treatment (3.10), Capital Goods (3.84) and Business Travel (2.32)
2025 replaces 2024 (84.07 tCO2e) as our baseline, following a more comprehensive assessment that added a full Purchased Goods & Services calculation and the previously omitted Downstream Transport category.

Key actions
- Improving supplier carbon data and embedding carbon criteria into procurement, focused on Purchased Goods & Services (our largest impact area)
- Shifting inbound freight from air to sea where lead times allow, and consolidating deliveries to cut downstream transport emissions
- Maintaining 100% renewable electricity, homeworking and Cycle2Work, and exploring an EV salary-sacrifice scheme
- Packaging efficiency (paper over bubble wrap, box reuse, recycling) and exploring clinical waste recovery for electrodes, leads, gel and needles
- Applying a carbon hierarchy to business travel, prioritising virtual meetings
We'll review progress annually against the 2025 baseline to track our path to Net Zero by 2045.
